Tony Hassini @ Magic Annex – The Experience

This was the message that got the both of us excited.

“You are cordially invited to join the Meet and Greet Session with Tony Hassini happening this Sunday(29.3.09) at The Magic Annexe at 4pm.”

Our request was graciously accepted by The Magic Annexe after we wrote in to request for two places at this exclusive meet and greet session and they sent out the official invitation(above) to us thereafter.

Since we got this message only on Thursday, it was yet another frantic rush to settle our transport, lodging, and logistics to go to Malaysia! Both Vogue and I booked the coach tickets on Saturday afternoon and we left on Saturday night.

We left a little early because we decided to get the most out of this trip to Malaysia by getting a little shopping done too following our previous visit to Malaysia which was insane. If you haven’t read that post, you can read it here.

The Meet and Greet Session was held at the following address:

2, Jalan SS 1/43, 47300 Petaling Jaya

We thought it was just another location in KL and decided to take the cab there. However, after 20 minutes around the Jalan SS 1 area without being able to find the place, the cab driver ABANDONED us and left us to search the place for ourselves.

There we were.. Stranded. It may seem that being at SS1/38 isn’t that bad at all, since the address of the place was SS1/43. But in Malaysia, things do not really go in a chronological order, which meant that the SS1/43 could be anywhere!

Stranded!

Stranded!

As it was 3.50 and we were literally melting under the sun. We had to use our last resort. We called The Magic Annexe (Organiser of this Meet and Greet session).

Rose Mary, Anslem’s wife picked up the phone and graciously decided to pick us up! And in about 10 minutes we were there. The place where we had been finding for the past half an hour! Jalan SS1/43!

Are we dreaming??

Are we dreaming??

We were just in time. All the magic annex people were warm and friendly. They made us feel at home. The lecture started as soon as we got into our seats. Boy were we in for a ride. We had totally no inkling of the series of events that was about to happen next.

What followed was a mini-lecture conducted by Tony Hassini. Here is a review of the lecture, Tony Hassini @ Magic Annex – The Review.

This trick is soo good, I want to see it myself! (Tony wearing his glasses!)

After the lecture, Tony revealed that he was in Malaysia to film his show “The Great Magicians of the World” where he go to different countries and film one of their local magicians. Anslem Roy was the featured magician for Malaysia and hence we found our way to be in the filming of one of the episodes from the series! Vogue and I are going to be on international Tv! Woots!

Lights, Camera, Action!

Omg! Did you see that? Amazing...

That’s showbiz for you guys! Haha. We talked to Tony and we are currently doing our best to get him down to Singapore to film our very own Magicians too. To all Singaporeans out there, pray hard! To Tony if he is viewing this, come to Singapore!!

After which, we went to join the Magic Annex members for an exclusive Question & Answer session with Tony Hassini. It was the best part of the whole magic experience! Tony was truly a man who is more than willing to tell his success story to anyone that is willing to hear. Tony shared his life stories, shared his secrets, shared his visions. It was truly inspirational. It wasn’t just about how to be a better magician, nor it was about how to be a better performer. It was about how to take charge of your live and reach your dreams. It was about how everything and anything is possible if you dare to dream and act on your dream.

You will definitely gain invaluable insights and inspirations after reading them. Die Die Must Read!

Overall, both Vogue and I felt that it was a day that would live in our hearts forever. Tony is truly a man with a wealth of experience and by sharing them, we never felt so motivated and inspired not only as magicians, but as individuals chasing our dreams.

Many thanks to Tony, Roy who brought Tony down to Malaysia, Rose Mary for getting us from that dreaded place, Magic Annex members for being such great hosts! Special thanks to Alvin for driving us and showing us the cool places to eat. We had a ball of a time.
