Here’s the long overdue review of the Eternal Ropes DVD by Jeremy Pei!

I actually purchased this last year during Jeremy Pei’s Staging It Lecture conducted by the Singapore Magic Circle. It has been 6 months since I first laid my hands on this set of ropes and I’ve been performing it for the past 4 months.

The DVD comes with instructions on how to custom make your own gimmick magnetic rope, 4 performances plus detailed instructions on each of the multi-phased routines broken down in to step-by-step handling and separate chapters for easy reference.

So you might be wondering why do I have 2 sets of ropes?!?! No matter. I’ll get to it in a while. For now, let’s get you up to speed to what you would be getting yourself into if you purchase this product:

• The ropes you will be getting are handmade by Jeremy Pei himself, using high quality important materials. Each rope is a mixture of 2 colours chosen to ensure that the gimmick remains undectectable to the eyes of the laymen.
• Each routine is exquisitely structured into multi-phases, which simply means that there is a gradual build-up of the effects capping each routine off with a neat ending. Jeremy has already done all the thinking and structuring of the routine for you! It has also been tried and tested by none other than Jeremy Pei himself! You can be assured that the tricks DO entertain the audience once you made the effort to practice and perfect it.
  
• Did I mention that all the sleights and tricks to the ropes are REALLY easy to learn? You can be a complete beginner at rope magic and master these routines in a matter of a week or so.
• All routines are separated into two categories : Stage Magic and Close Up/Interactive Style Magic which means one set of ropes is all you need. It is highly versatile for both stage magicians and close-up magicians. One set of ropes can be performed to a whopping 400 people or a smaller group of 40 people.
• The rope routines are “compartmentalized”. With a smooth transition to the routine, you can easily whip out your ropes and instantly add a power packed routine to your performance that will wow your audiences. The rope routines are stand alone 2-3 mins routines that can be fit into any performance. It is so great to know that you have a trick in your arsenal that can be used anywhere, anytime.

On the other hand, I would like to highlight some of the downs to this product:

• The ropes and the DVD comes in a bundle. Since you would be practicing loads with the ropes, it would wear and tear very fast. Hence if you are a performer, you would want to get another set of ropes just for performance. However, if you know Jeremy, he is a very nice guy If you know what I mean. *hint hint
• Be creative with the ropes. The ropes routines actually come with demo videos so that you can see how Jeremy Pei actually handles his ropes during his performances. Since his handling is practically flawless, majority of the magicians would just follow his handling style which just leads to many magicians performing exactly like him.  Design your own routine by making/cutting your own music and choreographing your routine or giving it an original patter to make it your own. Have fun with it!

To cap it all off, Eternal Ropes is a quality product from Jeremy Pei. If you are a stage or close-up performer, you would find this really useful to have inside your bag of tricks. Do give this product a look at because such products are worthwhile investments in your magic career!
