Debate: Paul and Kay Kay Exposure?!?

In their very own web based tv channel at clicknetwork called Chick vs Dick, Paul Twohill (Participant in Singapore Idol) and Kay Kay (A Deal or no Deal 2 model) compete against each other in the battle of the sexes!

In the one of the more recent episodes, they did a Magic Challenge! Ok to be specific, it was episode 18!

Here’s the exact description of the episode:

Paul and Kay Kay hit the streets to perform some street magic tricks. Discuss how they did it at clicknetwork.tv/forum! Watch and vote for who you think is the better magician!”

And so.. Off they went performing street magic they have learnt an hour ago… Yipee.. It was Kay Kay’s turn first! She performed a “Psychic Trick” where she knew what card you picked and another torn and restored tissue trick which was pretty decent considering that she learnt the trick in such a short period of time. And Kay Kay calls it the “napkin” trick. Luckily she isn’t a magician cause she would be turning loads of people off with her inventive names for her tricks..

Anyways up next was Paul who did a Key Card Trick to a group of strangers on the streets! For his second trick, when he took out a canned drink and a coin and said he was performing a coin through bottle i was really really shocked! I almost thought that he was going to ruin the perfect CTB (Coin Through Bottle) trick in the world-sinful. My heart thumped.

Heng. Ok his trick turned out to be a nice real joke. The audiences were wayy nice though.. I always get hecklers when I perform my tricks. You should take a look at the video right here:

Just when i thought that the worse was over! I realised that it was a part 1 of a two parter.. And guess what?

(What?)

The second part of the episode is named

Chick vs. Dick: EP18 (Part 2) – The Magic Challenge Revealed! Yay.. Another revealer.. Credits to them though.. They added a disclaimer: Paul and Kay Kay reveal how they did their magic tricks, so don’t watch this until you’ve seen Part 1 of the episode and want to learn the tricks! Wow.. Ok. I’m not going to post the video here but it was really retarded. The fact was that they REVEALED THE TRICK instead of teaching the trick. I mean come on the first part was 8 mins long while the “learning” part was only a mere 3 mins long.. Haha.. Which trick.. Do you learn that its instructional video is shorter than its effect? (Ok just I know that there are some out there but I’m just trying to make a point here!) I’m so glad that at least Kay Kay was not willing to reveal her nice “napkin trick”.

To me, that is just pure irresponsible magic revealing! I mean I have to be frank and I do use such simple principles cause combined with other magic principles they do pack a punch. But with such things going on, it would just foster a community whereby they are more interested in KNOWING how its done than the enjoying the effect of it!

What do you think about the Episode? Do you think that revealing magic tricks to the mainstream audience in such a manner is beneficial to the art? We want to hear from you! Write away! Tell us what you think!
