First as a fellow magic practitioner, I really admire his creative twist on his presentation as well as his own effects.
As a performer, he also knows how to appeal to the masses, and not be stuck in the geeky, grand image that many magicians are now perceived to be in the eyes of the public. He, along with magicians such as Criss Angel, are re-inventing the way magic is viewed through ‘street magic’ that is seemingly impromptu. Critics can say all that they want, but the fact is that Cyril Takayama is now a hot magic icon in Asia, especially with the help of Youtube and web media. Many, many laymen know about this “Japanese magician who pulled out a hamburger from the menu”.
I also admire his dedication and passion in magic. I have heard that his parents took away his props, but he did not give up and continued looking for chances to break into the magic fraternity and be recognized for his talent and efforts. I think that such dedication is rare in such times, not just in magic, but in any realm/industry. Teenagers often give up too easy, too quick to pressures in life. I think this is a quality that I can really pick up from Cyril because I have thought about giving up magic numerous times (and thankfully have not!)
Finally, in one of his specials he visited Nepal to perform for the less fortunate children there. To be honest, I was really touched by the scene there. Seeing the smiles and fascination of the kids, I really wonder whether magic is really all about the ‘paying audience’. Through this art form, we can really touch and brighten up people’s lives, if only just for a short while. I think it’s really great that Cyril gives back to society now that he has achieved resounding success and fame.
Just like the name of his show, his magic is SIMPLY MAGIC! Cyril’s personality and magic is so strong that make him unique and it’s like pure magic! He gives his magic a personal touch and its magic are meaningful.
People from all walks of life who have watched his magic will definitely be amazed. His showmanship is excellent! He manages to bring that special magic moment to his audience so strongly.Cyril’s ability to engage the audience is what I think makes him special.
Definitely,I especially like his visits to thailand and nepal,performing magic to those children.Cyril brought out the true meaning of magic,it gives people hope and inspiration,smiles and laughter, the wonders of this beautiful world. His spirit in magic also reminds us of being persrverance and one to pursure his dream & passion.
Cyril is special because he mixes humour with magic to bring joy to his audience.He also tries to produce new tricks to amaze his audience instead of just copying or modifying the tricks of other magicians. This causes his magic tricks to be unpredictable and his audience to be pleasantly surprised by his magic.
Cyril simply is not a stereotype magician.

Cyril is simply amazing. Before watching Simply Magic, i’ve only heard of his name here and there. I thought he was just like Criss Angel and David Blaine. But i was absolutely wrong. I was AWED. His magic is so subtle yet impactful. Most of his tricks have no doubt been featured on the television before, but what sets his apart from other magicians is his simplicity.
As an audience and magic-lover, I truly appreciate his magic and would love to be able to see more of him.

I have first seen Cyril’s performance through Japanese TV programs, and have always appreciated his great talents in magic. I believe that magic alone is special by itself, but if Cyril is put next to magic, it becomes more entertaining, more exciting, and most important of all, when Cyril performs magic, I could even feel that his love and passion of magic has reached out to me. Moreover, his warmth and friendliness have been shown through his performance will always win the audiences’ heart.
I hope he would always continue to bring that smile and joy to people whenever they see his great magical performances.

I’ve finally found a word that describes his magic to me. Humility. That’s what sets him apart from others and make people remember him.
Cyril is different from other magicians as he knows how to work the crowd. He can control the emotions of the audience and use it to entertain them. This brings magic to the next level.
Even though I had only seen his performances through the internet and the television, he never fails to impact me through the television and computer screens. This is what separates him from the other magicians.
Cyril dares to be different and is very innovative. He never fails to surprise me with new tricks instead of performing the same old trick over and over again. This sets him apart from other magicians who sometimes stick to the old trick for safety or comfort sake.
Another thing is that he knows how to entertain the audience. He sets out to perform the tricks with the audience in mind while some of the magicians tend to forget about that. They get too immersed in their performance but Cyril always has his audience in mind.

Cyril’s performance is amazing, the way he performs magic it’s just great. He has the charm and can spread happiness to the whole world through his beautiful tricks of magic.

CYRIL SIMPLY MAGIC IS REALLY SIMPLE. HIS BEHAVIOUR WITH PEOPLE AROUND HIS EXCELLENT AND THE MAGICS ARE OBVIOUSLY SUPERB.
I like his way of doing magic and plus he has the same b-day as my best friend.. He really has an amazing way of making people happy. He related to every kind of person in a way they would all love…. I wonder if he would come to the philippines but i guess i wouldn’t get to see him do his magic if he will go here…. Im only 11 but i really love his magic like an grown woman would…
As a magic practitioner myself, I’m highly observant and critical on other magicians’ performances. From the bottom of my heart, Cyril is one magician whom I have no other comments but only praises, praises and more praises.
Needless to say more, his magic to this day has always been revolutionary, entertaining and clean. Even when he performs on stage he needs no complicated large expensive props which audience of today could easily tell that the tricks are all done through total reliance on those huge stage props PLUS a team of front and backstage stooges in cahoot. I personally dislike watching those boring large-prop stage magic.
It is surprising that too many pro magicians are still unaware of the current audience taste (like a frog in the well), and many still spend large amount of time and money performing those nearly outdated heavy-props stage magic bringing with them their heavy props and a large team of stooges around to places just to satisfy their own ego.
I heard of a pastor turned pro magician who will not hesitate spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on a prop to boost his own ego, and traveling the world with a large team of his stooges and some of his own family members. His shows were largely sponsored and supported by audience from the network of his faith, thus, helping him lay his path to quick stardom, and not much by his own talent and effort.
Frankly, if his objective is not to serve his own ego through magic, he should better relearn and equip himself with simple close-up/street magic skills like Cyril’s and Lu Chen’s, and saving those much wasted money for the poor.
Long live Cyril!
We love you for what you are, and for bringing so much joy to this world and, particularly, to the poor under-privileged children.
