DAN SPERRY – THE ANTI-CONJUROR
Magic no longer sucks
Presenting the new face of magic, Dan Sperry shot to fame on America’s Got Talent in 2010. Described as David Copperfield meets Marilyn Manson, Sperry’s show flaunts his bizarre and macabre humour. This is non-stop mayhem set to an industrial music score with razor blades, buzz saws, voodoo and more. He’s the youngest musician to headline Hollywood’s fabled Magic Castle and has even performed his shock illusions and sleight of hand trickery privately for Johnny Depp’s family and his childhood hero, David Copperfield.

JAMES DIMMARE – THE MANIPULATOR
The style of Fred Astaire, the cool of Frank Sinatra
Straight out of Hollywood, James Dimmare – the self-styled ‘Fred Astaire of the magic world’ – will bring a touch of glamour and sophistication to the Concert Hall stage. Having performed magic since the age of 14, Dimmare’s award-winning style has won him spots in Vogue fashion campaigns as well as stints performing his well-crafted illusions everywhere from Vegas concert halls to intimate jazz clubs.

The Magician’s Magician
Specialising in jaw-dropping illusions on a mega scale – think death defying levitations, appearances and disappearances – Brett Daniels has a habit of making audiences question the most basic laws of physics and gravity. He’s had multi-million dollar bespoke stadiums designed and built to house his shows which have been broadcast up to 1.3 billion people at a time. As well as taking to the stage for The Illusionists, Daniels has been the creative driving force behind the production, casting the show and directing the illusions of his fellow performers.

Recently,  Sinema TV collaborated with illusionists, J C Sum & Magic Babe Ning, and Fly Entertainment to produce a first-of-its-kind independent Internet TV magic program. Entitled “M for Magic”, the 10-episode first season features 14 young Singapore magicians performing their magic on the crowded streets of Singapore.

Coming soon is a “live” spin-off delivered as a theatre show. The young magicians will be showcasing their talents in the 70min show that will be staged at Sinema Old School on Mount Sophia. The show will be hosted & starring JC Sum.

Urban Underground: The SG Lecture

This coming May 2011, Singapore’s most prominent illusionist,  J C Sum, will present his “Urban Underground” lecture to the Singapore Magic Community!

Early in J C’s career, he won multiple awards for his close-up work and original routines. The upcoming lecture features JC Sum’s professional formal close-up magic show where he will share his favourite materials developed over a span of 18 years.

J C will first perform his 30min show in its entirety and then break down the routines and explain the acts and set-up. Routines explained include:

Silver Teleportation – A two-phase coins across routine that starts from a “3 Fly-style” routine to an in-the-hands follow-up

The Elusive Pea – J C’s complete 6-phase “Three Shell Game” routine

Inverted Aces – A triumph-style Four Ace routine with two kickers

4 x 3 – An incredible 3-phase coin assembly that gets more impossible each time

International Passage – A coin box/ coins through table routine using four different coins

Dice Explosion – J C’s award-winning show closer

Red Dot Magic will be working together with the National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre (NVPC) along with youth organizations (eg Singapore Street Festival Youth, YMCA Youth etc) in Singapore to put up a concert to raise funds and donations and also to disseminate information about the Japanese people during this time of hardship and tragedy.

We are gathering a team of like-minded and big hearted magicians who will be able to perform street magic to help raise funds for the Japanese during this time of hardship.  All proceeds will go to the Singapore Red Cross Japan Relief Fund.

The concert will be held on 16th April 2011, 5pm-10pm at Far East Plaza Level 2 Atrium.

Your participation will help to fund the relief efforts and support for the victims of the recent tragedy caused by the earthquake and tsunami.
