With over thirty years of performing experience behind him, Anslem Roy heralds as one of the pioneers in the arena of Magic and Illusion in the Asia Pacific region.

He is the President of the International Magicians’ Society (IMS) – Malaysian Chapter, an appointment he received in 2001. IMS is recognised by the Guinness Book of Records as the world’s largest magic club.

In the media

He has made countless television and radio appearances both nationally and globally. Notably, he was featured on The Discovery Channel’s and The Learning Channel’s ‘Science of Magic’, ‘World’s Greatest Magicians’. He was responsible for vanishing the London tower bridge in BBC’s ‘History of Magic’ ,the disapperance of the ‘Sphinx’ for FOX television and starred in ‘ Masters of Magic’.

Awards

He is also a proud recipient of the International Merlin Award. This prestigious award is equivalent of receiving an Oscar at the Academy Awards. This coveted title was conferred on Anslem Roy by the board of directors of the world headquarters of the IMS in New York, for ” Most Original Magic” under the artistic category. To date, he is the first and only performer in Asia to receive this award. He was also given a ‘ Doctor Of Magic’ certification by the IMS. This attestation was given to Anslem Roy for his acquistion and surpassing of the high standards set out by the IMS. It is given to the select few who use the acquired knowledge and skills of the magic craft by translating them into the execution and performance of the art form.

Giving back

With this immense amount of knowledge and experience under his belt, Anslem Roy has now taken on the monumental step of setting up a facility to share his gifts with others. The Magic Annexe is uniquely dedicated to the advancement and promotion of magic and the related performing arts. Though the primary objective behind the conception of The Magic Annexe is ” To elevate the art of Magic to a position of eminence in the arena of performing arts”, it is also hoped that it would ultimately represent and set a standard for the diverse array of performing art forms, encompassing the vareity of skills, ages and interests, and span the range from full-time working professionals to hobbyists.

After having reached this level of acheivement and success in his career, he wants to leave The Magic Annexe as a legacy for the future of magic in Malaysia.
