Background of Red Dot Magic

Red Dot Magic was created for one very simple reason: We could not find a online magic news portal or magazine that speaks to us as magicians. Every publication lacked quality and bite-sized content while most organizations required some sort of membership fee before we were allowed into the “circle” of magicians.  There was hardly any other website that was dedicated to raising the profile of magic and magicians.

The truth is, as magicians, we are artists and magic is our art. It is an art that is incredibly hard to master with all its nuances and schools of thought. In other words, we believe that both magicians and magic deserves more attention and recognition from the world.

There isn’t a better time to promote the art of magic. Information has never been so pervasive. The birth of YouTube has provide a medium for magicians to showcase their art. With many magic shows featured on mainstream media, the general public has many chances to be exposed to magic, and magic has been compelled to reinvent itself to remain fresh in the public’s eye.

Mission of Red Dot Magic

This brings us to the first mission of Red Dot Magic: We strive to promote the art of magic and give talented magicians a platform to showcase their passion for the art. We hope to give recognition to magicians who put their hearts and souls into magic, thereby encouraging them to continue their pursuit in magic. We believe that this is the fundamental step to improving the standard of magic.

The second part of the mission of Red Dot Magic: We aim to help magicians navigate and keep pace with the modern ever-changing world of magic. We stand as a free destination for magicians always. We hope to combine great writing – complete with blunt, honest viewpoints and humor – with stylish site design, quality pictures, and intense technology to bring you the greatest reading experience that will keep you up to speed on the latest happenings from the magic scene, especially from the local, Singaporean scene and in South East Asia.

The final aspect of our mission (The ones closest to our hearts): The essence of Red Dot Magic is about building a community of like-minded magicians. Being a magician can be lonely. The long hours put into perfecting one sleight alone in the room can sometimes be very frustrating and draining. With Red Dot Magic as a bridge, we hope that magicians will share their experiences. There are a lot of unanswered “questions” in magic, and we believe that each magician with their unique experiences, are the best “answers”.
